Role 4 Initiative: Innovative Roly-Poly Number Tumblers

How We Started

Role 4 Initiative began in 2009 as a home-based eBay dice reseller. Since then, we've grown into a 12,000 sq ft warehouse operation, still fully family-run, and evolved into in-house product development: Diffusion dice, dice boxes and trays, dice towers with turn trackers, customizable DM screens, erasable dungeon tiles, dungeon dressing stickers, pre-painted miniatures, and enamel pins.

What We Believe

We deliberately avoid Limited Edition and FOMO pricing tactics. Our dice run about 30% bigger than industry standard, with larger fonts and high-contrast ink, because we want budget-minded gamers to have access to dice that are actually easy to read at the table.

The Arch'd4™ Story

“The Arch'd4 is an elongated Steinmetz variant sphericon,” says John Federkins, President of Role 4 Initiative. Developed around 2018 and introduced through the Diffusion Dice Kickstarter, the Arch'd4 was built as an alternative to the traditional tetrahedral caltrop d4 — easier to pick up, easier to roll, easier to read, and a lot less painful to step on.

Where the Name Comes From

“Role” for our roleplaying-game focus. “4” for the founders' four kids, each with a role in the business. “Initiative” for keeping in-person tabletop gaming alive against digital isolation.
